Connecticut District 8 Little League is a hosting it’s very first Challenger Baseball Jamboree on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the newly built Miracle Field in Vernon, CT. The all-day event is for participants of Little League who are engaged in the Challenger Division, which was founded in 1989 and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and/or intellectual challenges. The participants of the Challenger program are often overlooked and our goal for Connecticut District 8 Little League (towns include: Windsor, East Windsor, Windsor Locks, Suffield, Enfield, Somers, Ellington, Tolland, Vernon/Rockville, South Windsor, and Manchester) is to give the participants of Challenger Baseball a place on the map.

"A Miracle League Field provides opportunities for children with physical and cognitive challenges to participate in recreational activities in an accessible, nurturing, and non-competitive environment where families can come together to cultivate new friendships and experience the joy of play. The Miracle League Field in Vernon will have a synthetic short turf surface that is fully wheelchair accessible. Bases and pitching mounds are painted onto the surface so that there are no raised obstacles that you would find on a typical baseball field. The dugouts are enlarged to accommodate wheelchairs and other apparatus. The base path, pitching, and outfield fence distances are a bit shorter than a typical Little League field. The goal is to make this field appear as similar as possible to a typical LL field while allowing accessibility and safety for all."
-Passage quoted from The Miracle League of Northern Connecticut Website
